The National Week and Special Day of Sport and Physical Health improvement enacted

The National Week and Special Day of Sport and Physical Health improvement enacted

Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) productively enact the National Week and Special Day of Sport and Physical Health improvement organized by the Ministry of Sports under instructions by His Excellency the President Maithripala Sirisena. To mark the occasion, a health walk was conducted  with the initiative of the Managing Director of SLPA Mr.H.D.S.Premachandra  from the East Container Terminal of SLPA up to the Chairman’s Office premises.

It is expected to create a greater awareness about controlling non-communicable diseases during this national health week’s programme.  The week is aimed at initiating a continued and sustainable implementation on engaging in sports and physical  exercises for health, popularizing sports in all communities and directing them towards sports, creating a sports culture in the country by taking it to the people through curriculum and practical application of sports to build a healthy and happy life. It is also expected to apply sports for national development, identify talented personalities in such capacity and taking professional sportsmen and women forefront to encourage social segments towards sports.

A large number of higher officers, staff and employees of the sports pool  of SLPA also attended the occasion.
