The data further shows 9, 875 TEUs handled at Colombo port out of total 22,422 TEUs has been carried out by the SLPA.

Ports and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said that he will introduce the overall development plan to three terminals to carry out their operations towards the development of the Colombo port.He said the plan will be developed while keeping the uniqueness of the (Jaya Container Terminal) JCT terminal operated under the SLPA.

"The Colombo port operations are carried under three terminals while the JCT is run under the SLPA. The other two terminals are owned by the private sector. We hope to introduce a strategic business plan for all these terminals to carry out their business operations towards the development of Colombo port. We will highly consider about the uniqueness of JCT operations when developing the strategy to boost port operations," the minister said.
