The Large Brand New K Line Car Carrier M/V 'HYPERION HIGHWAY' makes her Maiden visit to the Port of Hambantota

General Manager of the Port of Hambantota Mr.Sarath Perera, AGM of the Port of Hambantota Mr.Suranga Peiris, Managing Director of the ABC Shipping Mr.Wasantha Talagala General Manager Operations and Logistics of the ABC Shipping Mr. Tressel Silva and Executive (Operations) of  the ABC Shipping Mr.Ananda Premalal are also in the picture. Deputy General Manager of the ABC Shipping Mr.Reggie Dias was also present at the occasion. ​

K 'Line car carrier with a load of  vehicles from Japan called at the Port of Hambantota recently.  The vessel M/V 'HYPERION HIGHWAY' with an LOA of 199.5M and a cargo capacity of 7,700 units, discharged 523 units from Japan for domestic use. A plaque exchange ceremony was also organized on board between Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), the agents for the vessel M/V 'HYPERION HIGHWAY' ABC Shipping (Private) limited and the Master of the vessel, to mark the occasion and to commemorate the maiden call of  M/V 'HYPERION HIGHWAY'. 

Expressing views at the occasion, Chief Operations Manager of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Mr.Nimal Jayatissa stated that Sri Lanka Ports Authority is now confident of providing excellent handling facilities in Hambantota. "The Port of Hambantota welcomes such mega carriers with around the clock facilities and extends all services for smoother and efficient operations at the port," he said. 

Master of M/V 'HYPERION HIGHWAY' Capt D. Milko Sredovski giving his views was confident of the new developments at the Port of Hambantota. "This was my second visit to the port and I am truly impressed by the latest facilities available and developments being done at the Port of Hambantota," he said.  Bulgarian Master confirmed that the facilities at Hambantota Port would enhance more vessels to call at the port and also wished the Port Chairman and the government for future success. 

The Japanese owned shipping line, K Line's contribution towards the Port of Hambantota has seen an improvement compared to last year especially with the transshipment volumes from India to Gulf Ports.

Chairman of the ABC Shipping Mr.John Shiran Dissanayake stated that with global logistics continuing to diversify, the principals 'K' Line has endeavored to introduce various types of ships in their fleet and strengthen "K "Line's service network covering the Atlantic, America, Asia, Oceania, Africa, Europe and China etc, doing their best to satisfy customer needs by positive and attentive service towards their requirements and expectations. 

The  Managing Director of the ABC Shipping Mr.Wasantha Talagala also  confirmed that their Principals were  happy with the developments made at the Port of Hambantota.  He further stated that the their principals and the Chairman and Management of ABC Shipping (Private) Limited were keen on promoting transshipment vehicles via the Port of Hambantota while having  'Zero Damage' to cargo moving via the port  since 'K' Line / ABC Shipping too have been allotted with On Arrival berths at the Port. 

Commenting on the occasion the General Manager Operations and Logistics of the ABC Shipping Mr. Tressel Silva stated that the K line's contribution towards the Port of Hambantota was sharply increased compared to last year by almost 50% and he thanked Sri Lanka Ports Authority and the Management of the Port of Hambantota for their dedication.
