High profile New Zealand delegation visits SLPA

High profile New Zealand delegation visits SLPA

A high profile New Zealand delegation including the New Zealand’s Minister of Food Safety and Veteran Affairs and Associate Minister of Transport and Immigration David Bennete, Her Excellency Mrs. Joanna Kempkers, the New Zealand High Commissioner (Designate) to Sri Lanka and Mr. Senaka Silva the Honorary Consulate in New Zealand for Sri Lanka made a courtesy visit to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) recently. The delegation was welcomed by the Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Mr.Dammika Ranatunga.

During the visit, discussions were made between the New Zealand’s Minister of Food Safety and Veteran Affairs and Associate Minister of Transport and Immigration David Bennete and the Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority Mr.Dammika Ranatunga on furthering relationships between the commercial port sectors of the two countries. Areas such as port development, furthering activities in shipping and trade sectors were also discussed.

After the discussions, Minister David Bennete and the delegation made a special inspection tour of the South Port of the Port of Colombo and also inspected the progress of the East Container Terminal (ECT) development programme.
