Dr. Sanjaya Senarath assumed duties as the new Executive Director of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on 18 th October 2007, at SLPA. 

Expressing views at the ocassion, Vice Chairman of SLPA Mr. Priyath B. Wickrama said that if an institution proceeds together with the political leadership, management and all employees, towards common developmental targets, such an institution will definitely succeed in its progress. He also said that, various leaderships and officers appointed at SLPA, time to time have contributed in numerous ways towards its development. 

Dr. Sanjaya Senerath the new Executive Director addressing the gathering said that he returned to Sri Lanka with good hopes of serving the country as well as the society. He also said that he hoped to join hands with both the staff members and all employees of SLPA , in its journey towards  success. Mr. A.T.K. Chandradasa, Private Secretary of Hon. Minister of Ports and Aviation, Chamal Rajapaksha, Mr. W.G. Samarathunge, Managing Director of SLPA, the members of the Director Board  and many officers of the SLPA also participated at the event.
